The O'Keefe Residence

The Challenge: To integrate an addition onto a house sufficient to serve as an enlarged kitchen/informal dining and mudroom with a full laundry area. The addition's second floor would be the new master bedroom with the existing one becoming an additional child's bedroom to accomodate the O'keefe's growing family.

The front-most part of the house was original dating back to approximately the turn of the 20th century. The back section was a 10 year old addition. The new design would have to incorporate elements of both the original structure and the recent addition. Below are pictures of the home, situated on a quiet village street in Hyde Park, New York, as it existed prior to the design process.
